what is the definition of a negative campaign?
to me, negative campaigning would be the mudslinging, nasty comments - lipstick on a pig or his daddy's a muslim, so he must be a friend of terrorist type comments. not the mccain is against abortion and i'm pro-choice or obama wants to raise taxes and i'm going to take a hatchet to federal spending.

Yes, to me it's the mudslinging and the constant negatives about your opponent instead of telling me what your platform is.
I agree. Derogatory comments about your opponent are almost always negative compaigning. You can disagree with someone without turning it into a putdown.
